Credit card Machine

The Thusong Vending Machine is a new and exciting service offering that will take Debit and Credit Card payment functionality to the door steps of the majority of users. The aim is to take the services to the people rather than serve them at arms length as has traditionally been the case.

The customer will be able to perform the following transactions on this device:

• Sell prepaid recharge vouchers for all the operators i.e. MTN, Vodacom, Cell C and Telkom;
• Sell prepaid electricity tokens in applicable areas;
• Accept Debit and Credit card as well as cash payments for all products and services including sales of their own merchandise;
• Provide a mini cash withdrawal service to their customers of through their debit cards.

Other exciting products such as e’tickets, welfare payments and the distribution of Free Basic Electricity are at various stages of development and will be launched soon.

Handheld Unit

To avoid users having to travel and queue up at pay points, a Thusong Handheld Vending unit can be used to service customers near their homes.

The following functions and features are provided by the portable vending unit:

• Water credit vendors can purchase credit in bulk, and at a discount (optional), to sell to the public at a set price. 
• When credit is sold to the end user the vending unit collects the meter data stored on the ITU. 
• This data is transmitted to the management computer via a serial cable or modem.  In turn, the management computer can transmit new tariffs or data to the meters via the hand held unit. 
• Collection of Bailiff readings by the HHVU or separate maintenance unit.

Electricity Meters

The metering system was incorporated with the specific intention of providing one-stop services to the Electricity Supply Industry. The customer base is primarily municipalities and Eskom.

A working partnership was entered into with the Cape Town based Actaris South Africa (Pty) Ltd in December 2005. Actaris SA is part of a group that is one of the leading providers of measurement technology for both prepaid and post-paid electricity, water and gas in the world. This partnership provides both companies with an opportunity to leverage the pool of expertise and client bases for the further development of our respective businesses.

Water Meters

The Thusong Prepaid Water Meter system is ideal for both commercial and residential markets.

Some of the features of the Thusong Prepaid Water Meter:
